Terms of Use

Licence

Cernix is free and open source, released under the MIT Licence. There is no purchase, no licence key, no account, and no subscription. You get:

• · Every release, on every machine you own, for as long as you want to use it. No expiry, no kill switch, no seat limit.
• · The full source, which you may read, modify, redistribute, and build on — commercially or otherwise — under the MIT terms.
• · Best-effort support via GitHub Issues. Freely given, not contractually owed.

If Cernix is useful to you, support is welcome but entirely optional, and buys nothing that you would not otherwise have. Every feature is available to everyone.

Your data is yours

The app runs on your machine. There is no Cernix server. Your photos, your edits, and your sync history stay under your control. The Privacy Policy documents every external request the app makes and every byte it writes to your disk.

We don't ever see your files. We could not collect them even if we wanted to — there is nowhere for them to land.

As-is, no warranty

Cernix is provided as-is. We make no warranty that it will be fit for any particular purpose, that it will work without error, that any specific feature will be available, or that features available today will continue to be available tomorrow.

In plain English: this is beta software shipped by an individual. It will have bugs. Treat the sync as a convenience, not as a sole backup — always keep your card or a redundant copy until you have verified the files arrived where you wanted them.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Cernix and its author are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the app — including but not limited to lost photos, failed syncs, missed client deliveries, business losses, or any other downstream consequence of using the software.

Third-party services

Cernix optionally talks to one Google service:

• · Google Drive — when you connect your Google account. Your use is governed by the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Cernix acts as a client to these services on your behalf. We do not warrant that they will remain available, that their pricing will stay the same, or that their behaviour will not change. If a service changes in a way that breaks an in-app feature, Cernix will surface the failure honestly and we will fix what we can.

Acceptable use

Don't use Cernix to:

• · Upload, sync, or process content you do not have the right to use.
• · Circumvent Google Drive's usage limits, abuse-prevention systems, or terms of service.
• · Attempt to extract another user's tokens, keys, or local data.
• · Redistribute or modify the app in ways the source licence does not permit (see below).

Source code and redistribution

Cernix's source lives on GitHub and is released under the MIT licence. You are free to clone, build, modify, and redistribute the source under the terms of MIT. These Terms of Use apply to the use of the prebuilt installer and this website; they do not override or replace the MIT terms that govern the source code itself.

Stopping

You can stop using Cernix at any time. Uninstall the app and delete %APPDATA%\Cernix to remove all local data. Files you have uploaded to your own Google Drive remain yours and stay where they are until you delete them in Drive.

Changes to these terms

Material changes will be reflected here with an updated Last updated date at the top. Cernix has no email list, so we cannot notify you of changes — please re-read this page after each app update.
